As most of you know, the Wonder Girls were reportedly to be in Singapore for the past week, doing promotions for their latest endorsement, Sony Ericsson. A press conference was held & below is an excerpt of the interview.

Hollywood hunks like Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, and Robert Pattison have found fans in Korean girl group The Wonder Girls. But men not blessed in the genetics department needn’t fret. These girls are equally open to just about anybody and everybody as Park Ye-eun (better known as Yenny) says, “We don’t really care about races or colours.”

But so far, their love lives have been anything but colourful, “We haven’t really met boys in the states. We are quite busy touring all the states (in America),” she continued to explain.

Currently busy with the promotional activities for their latest English single, Nobody, the girls (Park Ye-eun, Min Sun Ye, Ahn Sohee, Kim Yubin, Yu Hae Lim) have their hands full preparing for the May/June worldwide release of their upcoming music album. It doesn’t help that it will be recorded with songs in three different languages (Korean, English, and Chinese) to “satisfy fans from all over the world.”

They’re the most successful Korean girl group in the US market, but the start before the breakthrough was all but bumpy. They were sent to attend English classes in America and confessed that “the language” was the biggest obstacle” for them.

The girls have had intensive English lessons for less than a year, and while their grasp of the language is far from perfect, there’s already an American accent when they speak. “Except Yubin, we’ve never lived in the US before, so we really needed to learn English very hard. And we’re still learning English very hard [now],” quipped Yenny in crisp American accent.

Despite being far from home, the girls aren’t worried about the increasing competition or losing base with their Korean fans.

“This is just a miracle to be able to do what we are doing now,” Min Sun Ye gushed in response while Yenny the most eloquent speaker of the group, reiterated, “We don’t really try to keep our place on top [of the game]. We just try to deliver our music and try to interact with fans.”

And their game plan for keeping in touch with international fans? Social media networking platform, Twitter.

“To be honest, that’s why we try to tweet a lot. We can still talk to our fans through twitter,” the giggly girls agreed in unison.

The quintet changed the landscape of K-pop in the world with their catchy rifts and signature dance moves in their hit song ‘Nobody’. And despite all that fame and success under their belts, they remained unbelievably humble and grounded when asked to differentiate themselves from other girl groups in Korea.

The group’s leader, Sun Ye, replied with a slight drawl, “Yeah, I wonder too.

“We are really not that pretty, and not that smart. We are not that good at singing and dancing, I think. We are just really grateful that people are enjoying our music, dance, and everything. Yeah, so thankful for that.”

Looks like fans will be in for a surprise this coming May/June. The girls played coy and refused to divulge details of their upcoming new concept. They hemmed and hawed for a few moments before Yenny flashed a cheeky grin and chirped, “No comments!”

Korean pop sensation Wonder Girls’ plans to conquer the United States were halted for a while after one member of the group, Sun Mi, left to pursue her studies early this year.

The sultry girls, who were supposed to release their debut English album and hold a concert tour in the US, had to delay their plans.

But the popular girl group, who broke into the American market with an English version of their wildly successful single Nobody last year, have already welcomed a new member, Hye Rim, also known as Lim.

In town on Tuesday for the regional launch of Sony Ericsson’s latest mobile phones, the bubbly girls were friendly and spoke fluent English, after having learnt the language while living in New York over the past year.

Lim, 17, told Life! in an interview at Capella Singapore: ‘I have a lot to catch up on as I am a new member. I feel nervous but I am also excited to start on this new journey with the team.’

The rest of the group expressed gratitude at having Lim in the group.

After picking up much success with their hit single “Nobody”, Wonder Girls welcomed a new member to the group just last month. The girls showcased their charms by performing here in Singapore last night, but however they are lacking of unison: “Needing more time to develop a better relationship”.

After visting Singapore for the very first time back in 2008 and performing at the Korean Pop Night, the Wonder Girls are back in town. This time around, the girls are the newest Digital Embassadors for the mobile brand, Sony Ericsson. The difference between last visit is, the member that visited Singapore back in 2008, Sunmi, withdrew from the group last month to further her studies. Replacing  it with a trainee whom trained with JYP Academy for 3 years, HaeRim (Hye Lim).

Last night, it was the 2nd overseas appearance & performance ever since the re-grouping of the members. The girls performed their hit singles like “So Hot”, “Tell Me” & “Nobody”. However, the time spent performing & getting along together with the other member wasn’t long enough, member Lim seems to be having much trouble, at point of time, it seems that she wasn’t able to catch up with the beats. At the media interview, a representative said that even though Lim just joined the group, they believe that there is still room for improvement for getting along.

When a reporter asked, Lim said, “Sometimes, I will still be nervous, but I’m excited to be able to join the group, having a new start.”  Member Yubin added:”It needs more time to get to know each other well, but with her joining the group, I felt thankful, she’s really talented.”

Sweeping various music charts, dominating the whole world for the past year with just one hit song “Nobody”, gained much popularity and recognition. “Nobody” is the one song which many artiste which wants to imitate. Leader Sunye laughed and said:”Perhaps it could be the tune that is easy to remember, no matter what age group you are, they will pick up the “Nobody” dance easily.”

When asked about any worries that their song might be even more popular than the artiste, Lim said:”I think this way it could be better, since we’re singers, we hope that we’ll be able to express our thoughts & feelings through music. At this point, we indeed had definitely done a great job, haha!”

A JYP Entertainment representative at the Sony Ericsson Press Conference yesterday afternoon, held in Singapore, revealed that “the Wonder Girls will be the new embassadors for the brand Sony Ericsson in countries like Korea, China, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Austrailia & New Zealand.

The new Sony Ericsson models, Wonder Girls, was in Singapore last week for promotional activities such as a photoshoot for the new Sony Ericsson product’s printads.

Wonder Girls are expected to leave Singapore by 11th this month, at the same time member Sunmi is preparing for furthering her studies, while new member, Lim, joins the group & prepare for their english album releasing in April back in the states.

Lets respect Sunmi’s decision to pursue her studies and support Lim while she’s transiting into becoming a Wonder Girl herself. It may be a long and tough road for Lim as well as for us. Lets support lim and wait for Sunmi to return.

No longer a Wonder Girl (although I’m sure many would disagree), Sunmi has recently arrived in Korea after declaring a formal exit from the group.

However, it has been reported that Sunmi has not been making any public appearances so far, as she has confined herself at home.

The netizens began to speculate that she is now preparing to reenter her high school, which she had quit prior to her U.S. activities.

JYPE has made their statement in regards to the rumors, explaining Sunmi’s status on her education as well as plans for her return:

Sunmi is in preparations to enter college by studying hard for the high school exit exam. Also, Sunmi is scheduled to participate in an upcoming project as a singer.

JYPE’s claim on the possibilities of Sunmi returning as a singer definitely shines a light for the WG fans, however, the date of her return remains uncertain.

All hopes aside, we wish the best of luck for Sunmi’s education.

Here in town as Sony Ericsson ambassadors, members of the popular Korean girl group will be making an appearance this afternoon at the regional media launch for Sony Ericsson’s new series of mobile phones.

Wonder Girls comprising Kim Yu Bin, 21; Park Ye Eun, 20; Min Sun Ye, 20; Ahn So Hee, 17; and new member Lim Hye Rim, 17 will reportedly speak about their experiences using the new Sony Ericsson phones during the event at Resorts World Sentosa.

They will also perform a 15-minute set at a media appreciation dinner held this evening before leaving tomorrow.

Buzz about the popular Korean girl band’s arrival began last Tuesday, when Park, known as Yenny among fans, tweeted about visiting Singapore.

Later, she asked fans for their suggestions on must-try food in Singapore. The tweets drew some 400 responses from fans all over Asia, who recommended dishes such as laksa and ice kachang.

Twitter member pink_luverz recommended durian, saying its smell is strong but “it is very delicious”.

The girls arrived in Singapore early last Saturday, and it seems Yenny took her fans’ advice to heart.

She tweeted that she had tried famous Singaporean fare, such as char kway teow, chendol and ice kachang.

She tweeted that chendol is “super delicious”. Min also tweeted: “Thanks so much Singapore for having us.”

Apparently, the girls are enjoying themselves in Singapore. & their fans are happy to have them in their country, I’m sure of that.

South Korea’s popular quintets, the Wonder Girls are heading to Singapore next tuesday, for a promotion trip for mobile brand, Sony Ericsson.

Gaining tremendous popularity with their hit single “Nobody”, Wonder Girls members consist of Sun Ye, Ye Eun, So Hee, Sun Mi & Yu Bin. However, the 17 year old member Sun Mi, announced her that she’ll be leaving the group to continue with her studies, even though Wonder Girls were doing well in their US activities. Sun Mi plans to re-join the group after completing her studies.

New Member Hye Lim (Lim) Has Made Her First Appearance Through CF

Wonder Girls recently released their own line of cosmetics “WG By Wonder Girls”. According to a representative, before the cosmetic were launched, new member Hye Lim has already completed the photoshoot, in replacement of member Sun Mi. Hye Lim is Korean who had been living in Hong Kong. Ever since the announcement regarding Sun Mi’s leave, Hye Lim has been performing with the rest of the members since early feburary. In the recent photoshoot, Lim was seen as a cutesy girl with a adorable set of big eyes.

Also, Wonder Girls recently had also announced plans for entering the Mando Pop market in the near future. The girls has already released their special collection early this year. With a chinese cover of past works like “Tell Me”, “So Hot” & “Nobody”. Hoping to dominate the Chinese market soon enough.
