Just days before the concert, event organizer, Very Aspect, announces the cancellation of Mnet Ultimate Live in Taiwan concert in Kaohsiung, which was supposed to be held on August 22nd with performances from 2PM, Wonder Girls, miss A, JYP and MBLAQ.

Recently, we wrote about the two mega concerts being held in Taiwan by Mnet. Since one concert would be held in Taipei and the other one in Kaohsiung, there were more opportunities for everyone to attend as the concerts would be at opposite sides of the island. But sadly, for those closer to Kaohsiung, it has been announced that the concert has been canceled. At the beginning there were rumors that it was canceled due to overpriced tickets, but the event organizers informed that this happened because a Taiwanese singer had a concert at the same venue the night before and they were not able to change the stage in a day.

Very Aspect said through the concerts’ facebook:

“The two parties’ stage architecture are a great mismatch. It would have been very pressing to dismantle one and erect the other. Additionally, Mnet has strict requirements with the stage structure. We have made every effort to deal with the time and venue restraints. The Korean side wanted more improvements and they made many more proposals that will alter the stage architecture. We, and the Korean technical staff, racked our brains but were left with a reality check at the end.

Unable to provide in Kaohsiung a similar show as in Taipei, we have no choice but to reluctantly cancel the Kaohsiung show.”

With seventy percent of the tickets sold for a venue with 10,000 seats; 7,000 fans have been left without the chance of seeing their idols. Even though Very Aspect also said that these fans could exchange their tickets for the Taipei show being held on August 21st at the Nangang Exhibition Hall, for many this is not an option as they can’t travel from one side of the country to the other.

Many fans, and even the media, have been left angered by this situation saying these are “groundless reasons”, that “Even if there was a venue problem, any evaluation should have been done well in advance” and that it was unfair to cancel the concert the week it was being held.

Very Aspect finished off their announcement by saying, “We guarantee [the] Taipei concert to be an unprecedented visual and audio spectacle. All the participating performers are also sparing no effort for perfect performances to thank the fans for their support and love.”

By now, even if the Taipei concert wows the audience, this situation has left a bitter sweet taste for Taiwanese fans, especially those who had tickets but now will have to sit at home and watch fancams of what could have been their ultimate concert experience.
