Hallyu(aka Korean Wave) Strikes Back!

As the wave continues to blow, South Korea’s hottest idol groups take their turns to pay a little visit to this little red dot, Singapore. Not only boy groups like FT. Island & SHINee, girl groups like Brown Eyed Girls & Wonder Girls make their arrival followingly.

How do you feel about entering the US back in 2009?
- Till now, we are still feeling excited & thrilled about it. It is because we started out all from zero again in the US, during this period of time, we had made new friends, & new fans. We were pleased to let them get to know more about us. We’re having a great time back in the US.

The first english album are set to release in May, will the concept be similiar to “Nobody”?
- Haha, this is a secret! (laughs) The album is still in the midst of production. We have been to many countries & had interacted with many different people like Chinese & English speaking fans, for the past 1 or 2 years. Hence, our album will contain 3 different languages (English, Chinese & Korean) of our hit songs, hopefully fans from the different regions will be pleased about it.

During the period of time in the US, Korea’s music scene had come up with lots of female groups. How do Wonder Girls maintain their position in the game?
- We’ve never thought of maintaining the title of “No.1 Girl Group” in the first place. We just hope that we could do well in our music, & interact with our fans. We were able to gain so much popularity not from our ability but from a miracle. Because of that, we’ve been working hard on sending Tweets (laughs), communicating & chatting with our fans through the use of Social Networking Platform (Twitter).

Increasing popularity, increasing endorsements. Recently launched house brand cosmetics (WG By Wonder Girls), this time round specially flown into Singapore for mobile brand endorsement. Which item do you want to endorse the most?
- Actually we’re pleased & contended with what we’ve now (laughs)… Maybe… a refrigerator?(laughs) (Why?)Because we love to eat, haha!

New member, Hye Rim, joined the group in March. Being the first time in Singapore & performing with the other 4 members, how’s the chemistry?
- Hye Rim: Because I’m a new member, naturally I’d feel nervous but at the same time, I’m feeling pretty excited as well. The other members had been really nice to me, let me feel at ease.
